Daily schedule
Each week on Friday afternoon you will receive the planned schedule and activity plan for your child’s class. In this plan we will include some practical ideas for things you can talk about and things you can do at home that will link to what we are doing in the nursery. By doing this we anticipate creating a wonderful partnership and extension of leaning between the nursery and home.
The daily schedule comprises of indoor and outdoor activities which allow for adult led and free play opportunities. Indoor activities take place in their classrooms or in the various separate communal spaces in the nursery.
Morning circle:
9:00 a.m.
Morning meeting is a time to greet everyone and start our day. Activities at morning meeting include children’s jobs, pledge of allegiance, calendar, weather, introduction of new letters and numbers of the week and introduce the days activities.
Child choice time:
9:00 a.m. – 9:25 a.m.
A variety of developmentally appropriate activities that encourage learning in all areas of development, as well as a teacher facilitated activity.
Clean up time
9:25 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
All children work together to clean up our class room.
Story time:
10:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
The teacher reads a story to the class relative to the current curriculum.
Snack time:
11:00 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.
Our school has a peanut free policy. Children begin snack with hand washing and participate in serving and clean-up. Snacks include Goldfish, Cheez-its, Ritz, Saltines, pretzels or graham crackers. Water is provided with the snack.
Quiet time:
11:50 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
A short rest time (two minutes) at snack tables while listening to quiet music.
Morning circle:
12:30 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.
Meeting time is an opportunity for the whole class to get together in one area. Activities at this meeting include show and tell, music and movement, class discussions and group games. Most importantly this is a time for children to share information with others, practice listening and waiting skills, and participate in a large group.
Physical activity:
12:45 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.
Children participate in active play outdoors and in our indoor gym in cold or poor weather.
Goodbye:
2:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Children gather personal items, receive handouts, and wait at the front door for dismissal.
Optional lunch bunch
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The Lunch Bunch Program is an extension of our day program and is offered twice a week on Monday and Friday (for the 3 Day Pre-Kindergarten Program) and on Tuesdays (for the 2 Day Preschool Program). This is an optional program of one hour from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for an additional fee of $10.00 for the hour. Sign up ahead of time and bring your own peanut free lunch.
